Commission Us: Custom Work

Here’s how it works

I love building custom Strain Canes and other works of art! Here’s how it works:

1. Send me a message to discuss your idea’s design characteristics, specify walking cane, walking staff, hat rack, lamp etc. When discussing a Strain Cane please provide the following info (i.e. length, color, strain, handle, accessories, etc.) and your budget. If you are inspired by a particular cane or staff you see in our collection, let us know which one!

HOW DO YOU KNOW WHAT SIZE CANE OR WALKING STAFF TO GET? I sell two types of stick - Hiking Sticks and Walking canes. Hiking Sticks are straight and tall, between 48" and 59" tall. Walking canes are shorter, with a handle.

Hiking sticks- should be 6-9" above your elbow, with your arm by your side while you are standing. The steeper the terrain you will be hiking, the higher above your elbow it should be - the length is used to reach down the hill and touch the ground, to stabilize you as you go down the trail. Additional length is completely unnecessary if all you are going to do is climb upward, you just need it when going down.
Walking canes- the top of the handle should be right at the break in your wrist, with your arm relaxed and by your side while standing. When purchasing a cane it is helpful to know what the proper length should be. Standing upright, allow arms to relax (with normal bend at the elbow) at your sides. Have a second person measure the distance from your wrist joint down to the floor. This number is the right length of  for you.

2. Once we agree on the design and price, we’ll send you a form via email detailing the project, terms, and down payment amount for you to review. We require a 50% down payment on each of our custom pieces.

3. Submit the form via email and we will send you an invoice through pay pal for the deposit.

4. Purchase the down payment listing to solidify your commission.

5. I will be working on your piece! Time frames range from 2-4 weeks depending on the project.

6. When complete, I will email you a direct link to a reserved listing with photographs of the finished piece and the balance due to complete the purchase.

Please ask questions throughout the process - we’re happy to answer them all.
